months ago I went and looked at a bunch of edge weapons and flags and 1 small baggie of pins and medals.

Took some pics and believe ringed marked 8 but eyes are bad!

Guy had 20 nice daggers and this 1 medal!

Don't know if real but made good display for pic!

I gave up on medals and badges yrs ago!

According to "conventional wisdom," the medal is questionable as to authenticity. However, it is certainly possible "conventional wisdom" is not always correct. Given the circumstances under which it was acquired and the wear and age do lend themselves to the possibility it is authentic. But, we all know wear and age can be faked. If I were interested in buying one of these, I'm afraid I would have to pass on this one. I don't want to go into details why, in order to not encourage the fakers to reproduce certain "keys" to look for. The subject of SS medals has been amply covered on GDC in the past.

Hello there,

I believe the medal may have a chance but better photos are needed to show the stippling.
