pvon, Man, you've been keeping busy lately, appreciate you sharing your finds and adventures with us. That large bronze award is really nice. If memory serves, that beauty has a large serpent on the reverse? There are so many images of the Generalfeldmarshal/President, but I have yet to see one example of him cracking just the merest hint of a smile..? Guess the old bulldog just looked scary all the time? heh. I believe he made the cover of "Time," three times? ... here's one of them. Also, a lovely oil-painting in full military regalia. Joe, super postcard. Love these illustrations that combine a 'sketch-like,' line quality, with finished, detailed, full-color areas. Gracias, best to all ... Bill

Very nice items you have here. My sympathy for this Hindenburg topic .
In 1927 there was raised a Hindenburg fund that people organized for his 80th birthday. The money went to social purposes. All kind of items were made for sale, like this little Hindenburg flag. The length is 7cm.

Here a Hindenburg brooch; ca 5cm in diameter.
Probably the engraver used the photo as example...

Some great stuff in this thread! That cased bronze medallion is really super. I can't remember if I've posted my Hindenburg plaque mold on this forum. I found for next to nothing it in a box of miscellaneous metal odds and ends at a flea market a few years back. It is unsigned, alas, but the details are really fine. If anyone ever sees an actual plaque that was pulled from this mold I would love to see it (and perhaps buy it!) so they can be compared side to side. T.
