Hello I am fairly new here so please forgive any mistakes. I have the opportunity to acquire this dagger from a local gunshop and it just does not look right to me. The mark is one i can not find. The knife shows a lot of wear. The castings do not have a good look to them. They may have been cleaned on a wire wheel. This came in with a nice 2nd model that i had no question of it's authenticity so i did buy it. If this one is real what would be a fair price considering the poor condition?

Fake.

None of the parts from the trademark onwards is correct. The finish is a painted on silver look-alike.

I had looked up quite a few on the web and nothing I found looked like this one so I was nearly certain it was a fake. The marking was way off from anything I found. The quality was off as well but there was the possibility it had been so over cleaned that it just looked terrible.

A fake to be sure, but sometimes I have to stand back and look at the effort and tooling it took to get the dagger manufactured. It's not a small amount of work. With, back in the day of printed catalogs, this kind of dagger probably sold to an unsuspecting collector who had nothing else to compare it to. FP

Indeed & at a time when there was much less to be gained by doing so.

Makes one wonder if the fakers even know what they are trying to emulate or have even seen one in hand.

Sad really and yet it impacts on the new collector more so than the seasoned. The first rule as ever is read the books, gain knowledge then aim.
