My Uncle George was a sergeant in the combat military police in Patton's Third Army. He was in front of advancing troops, clearing the roads and scouting for the main forces. As with most vets, he rarely talked about the war. He was someone I greatly admired for his service. I am honored to have direct and indirect ancestors who fought in every US war, beginning with the Revolution through WWII. In their footsteps, I served as an army officer in Vietnam. Although it was an "unpopular war," it is one of the things in my life that is most memorable and for which I am most proud. May God rest and bless all vets, living and dead.
