The ring strikes me as providing a lot of information, but for what purpose? There is a fair representation of the Feldgendarmerie gorget save for the poor rendering of the eagle and swaz, but the lower banner is missing. The numeral 6 in the wreath of indistinct laural leves is a mystery. The FG units were usually higher numbers tied into the number of the higher army command. And the word "Osten". Was it supposed to be in remembrance of sevice in the East? A mystery for sure and unsettling when considering the ring. If this is high grade silver, why the poor casting? The rest of the ring doesn't look worn, so why the face of the ring? Too many points to make in problematic.

Except other problems for me is the main problem of this ring the missing sizing seam. Usually there is one die to make the ring, cut in size and solder. For me not believable to have for every ringsize a separate die.
Cool looking ring at all.

Hm. Yes, in unique pieces and trenchart items i agree. There often was used a piece of pipe as ring. But in a mass produced ring in my opinion a sizing seam is a must have.

I'm not saying this is a mass-production however, no obvious signs of a fake ring gendarmerie ... :-)

I agree many rings you can not see the sizing seam because the solder is expertly matched... But that is not the case with this ring..
Joe W. is our resident Police specialist.. He has some great points: - "but for what purpose? -poor rendering of the eagle and swaz, - numeral 6 in the wreath of indistinct laural leves is a mystery. The FG units were usually higher numbers tied into the number of the higher army command." As far as problems that is all I see with this ring.. They way it is made it would have to be mass production.. ring doesn't look dug. ,poor quality casting, with 2 parts.[ To complicated] ,and much waste of silver late in the war [thick band etc.]. Non sensible dedication to front. Ring made 'in the round' Just overall not a believable ring......
I know many a digger and weird things happen all the time..
