Hello,
Here are pictures of my SMF Army. I posted this dagger before with my P.D.Luneschloss when I first joined the forum and before I figured out my camera. I took some better pictures of it today and thought I would share them. The SMF crossguard is known for being one ugly eagle as it looks more like a chicken. The blade shows good crossgraining but has some minor graying. These examples are getting harder and harder to come by in any condition. Enjoy the pictures.

Nice dagger Rich, and your not kidding about the ugly bird,, that beak looks better than some of the noses Ive seen on people. The crossgrain on the blade stands out nicely. As usual your pics with extreme close ups are crystal clear. Larry

Rich,
I remember this beautifull example from your earlier post. I wouldn't mind having that one in my collection. I think it's a stunning piece in great condition.

Yours does not look like the type with the typical light weight fittings. Either that or it has remained in better condition than most by a long stretch. I know where one has been sitting for over 12 months but it`s the usual light weight crap quality and not worth bothering with IMO. Would certainly jump on a brass based but they are hard to find. Hideous looking bird makes you wonder how they settled on that design. Probably the reason why they didn`t make many was that nobody wanted the ugly sob swinging from their hip. smile

Gentleman,
Much obliged by your kind words and respected opinions.

Landser, I was unaware of the two base metal fittings on this maker dagger. I pulled my pommel off and checked out the threads, turns out this dagger has the light weight fittings, I'm assuming aluminum. As for it's good condition, it was kept in the Vet's house since it was brought back, as opposed to the basement or attic.

Thanks again.

Rich

Rich, I have been waiting a very long time to find a good one and have pretty well given up. If finding one is hard then finding a good one is nigh on impossible. Yours is a keeper for sure.
