Despite trying to downsize my collection every now and then you see a dagger and you just have to buy it.

Well this is my first purchase of 2012, it has been in a collection for over 20 years and my friend finally managed to get his mits on it. I was the first to see it and now it is mine.

It does not have any issues. The heavy silver plate is 100%. There are no dings on the grip and it displays a fine colour throughout with some shading to the rear. I added the knot just to set it off and later I will be adding a nice set of delux hangers from one of my drawers.

That is a nice addition Frank, Eickhorn parts throughout and VERY heavily silver plated. You might want to rotate the grip as the dark side would have been on the crossguard side of the dagger unless the piece has been displayed face down for 50 years smile.
I like it mate, and your photography is top notch also, love the background, very professional.

It was done as soon as I looked at the pictures. I had Jim look at the tang and it was most probably reversed then.

When I was in the garden taking the photos and attaching the knot I didnt notice.

I am happy with it, they are getting harder to find in this condition unless they come out of a collection.

Talk soon Jon

Frank,
Beautiful addition, Eickhorn went the extra mile when it came to quality, and attention to detail.
Super find.

Thanks for the comments.

I notice that some posts are no longer visible, so here are a few photos I posted a while back of my Heer daggers. Not had a count up since, I think I have sold a couple but also added some.

I really want to try and get three pics of each and post them on a thread, not sure how it would go down though, it would be quite large ^^

Frank,

Stunning array of Heer grips & variants, I'll bet every one of them is choice too. No wonder it's so hard to find a nice Army these days.

Thanks fellow collectors. I will try and get some pictures of the slants and other interesting ones and I will start more threads rather than filling this one up.

Degens (wardaggers) has seen almost all of these and given me lots of information on them. there is a very interesting one in the bunch that I picked up at a show in the USA many years ago. I was intrigued with the excellent etch to a plated blade but the were no sprigs below the eagle. I think many had walked past it and ignored it because of this. Not me. I bought it, I showed it to a few well known dealers including Huston and there was agreement that it was of high quality and deserved some investigation. So not poo-poo'ed out of hand.

Jon (Degens) has seen it in hand and i think he will agrre that although it is not text book it is well worth a thread.

I will try and find it in my drawers (limited space)and post some pictures in a new topic. It will make for a good discussion as IMO it is right as rain and I am happy with it no matter what the outcome. It is one of those daggers that could help answer some questions and maybe increase our knowledge one way or the other.

Regards Frank

Never seen that many daggers of any kind in one regular sized room. If you need some space you can send one my way...
