Here is the latest addition to the family. Just picked this up this past week. This is the forth and final design produced by Eickhorn sometimes mistaken for the second design. I'm very happy with this piece as the blade is near mint, and rest of the dagger is in pristine condition. The hanger is pretty beat up but came with it.

I would like to thank Jon, (Degens) for some clarification and would also like to mention that he has one of the most informative website I've been on. Well done Jon.

Thanks

Rich

Glorious dagger, Eickhorn certainly made a quality product. Heavily silvered, with traces of original lacquer still intact and a top notch blade. Very nice indeed wink.

Very nice and beautifully aged EICKHORN. As Degens has already mentioned with portions of the original protection laquer and the frosted silvering beneath. All other parts (beside the reverse of the crossguard) obvioulsy are covered with the grey/Black/blue patination I do like so much.
It is interesting to se (and I do not have the least doubt the group was altimes together!) how the hanger is worn (I think due to the uniform blouse the upper hanger is more worn than the lower parts) and how well the condition of the dagger still is.
Regards,

This style of crossguard has to be one of my all time favorites. The eagle is so much more defined, from the well styled head and hooked beak down to it's well defined powerful looking talons. That is a great looking dagger!

Rich,

Wonderful dagger and photos!

What type of camera are you using for these crystal clear shots? Do you use artificial or natural lighting?

Keep up the good work! wink

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the kind words.

Believe it or not, I'm using an old (10+yrs old or so) Sony Cyber-shot with 2.0 mega pixels, which is by no means anything special. I think my kids i-phones have better quality cameras in them. I have the resolution up as high as it can go, I think 1600 X 1200, and I take these photos on my front porch out of direct sunlight. I've been experimenting with the exposure and think the dark pictures look the best. When I first joined the forum, the pictures I posted were over exposed and made the daggers look artificial with improper tones.

Thanks again
Rich
