Well, it's been some time since I posted here and decided( with a little suggestion) to post some of my more recent US finds, kinda backed off on the WW2 German a bit and have been focusing on US Airborne and Marines. The following two hearts are estate fresh and outof the woods. First up is a very nice WW2 USMC KIA Purple Heart named to PFC Corwin Pearl, he was KIA on July 21 1944 on the island of Quam, he was with I company 3rd Bn 4th Marines, his prior service was with Comapny I 3rd Raider Bn which under reorganization became the 3rd Bn 4th Marines in Jan. 1944, his first action was on Bouganville and participated in the intial landings and battle for the island, I have completely researched him and have a copy of his file from the Archives.

Next heart is for a USMC Marine KIA named to PFC Roy D. Campau who was with the 4th Marine Division and was KIA in the Marshall Islands during the initial assault on ROI-NAMUR, I have yet to have the research done on him but will be doing this soon.

Thanks for posting, those are stellar!
I think many guys hit that wall of anonymous German items, and while it is still certainly cool stuff, having something that is really steeped in history and shows the sacrifices of these young men is far more meaningful in the long run.

Fritz, Those are very nice,I also enjoy collecting WW2 and some WW1 US Marine items.

Very nice medals, and great job on the research!
I still cannot understand why the families would ever have parted with them.
At least when one of us gets one, it will be protected and honored.
BTW, do you have any tips on researching U.S. Servicemen?
I have been looking at U.S. items more lately myself, and have quite a few named items that I would like to research.
Online links would be great, but I can write letters as well.

actually google can be helpful as well. sometimes you can snag old obituaries or articles.
There are some decent pay sites to for the hardcore researchers.
