I would not think a dealer would be a very good option right now.
All the dealers have hiked the prices up in this recession and from what I see their stock is hanging around for months unless it is exceptional. When they can`t sell their stock they probably will not want to buy in at anything like a fair price.

I know it could be laborious if you have a large collection but if it were me I would try selling it off to fellow collectors direct.

Have not seen a post from you in a long time, I hope that all is well with you.

Best regards wink

I agree. A dealer would probably gladly buy the whole collection, but, if you break it down into individual pieces, you likely would not receive a fair price. There are auctions you could use, but there is usually a seller's commission to pay and some auctions are of dubious repute. Selling to other collectors would likely get you the best return. You might consider listing a few at a time here and keep repeating the process. If something doesn't sell, you still have other options to dispose of it through other means. A lot depends on what you have, condition, rarity, desirability, etc. Remember, too, most collectors look for bargains or something close, so you would have to price things below dealers' prices somewhat, unless the condition is significantly better than what dealers ask.

I have had some luck with consigning items to dealers.. if you cna wait for your money and want to avoid the hassle of listing and selling your items one at a time. Some things just demand patience.

Consider the two Toms (Wittman or Johnson) or my fave Canadian dealer, Paul at lakesidetrader.com.

I have 3 DLV dags but the rest are really nice that I'd consider keeping and I was considering the affect humidity has on daggers..I am moving to Fla. hopefully in 1/2 yr.I didnt want them possibly ruined. The 2 Toms would be a good shot for consignment or? Thanks guys, I know its been a while since I've been on here but I have to stay away as my addiction to this hobby might get me going again. The two Toms would do you well... they have high traffic on their sites, have a huge stable of collectors looking for stuff and have high credibility in the community so that items sell reasonably quickly (I said reasonably given todays times) and hassle free.

You can't go wrong with either.
