Digging around in my collection & re found this this 1945 mess kit. Had it awhile , & no one around here has seen one still having the decal.

I do not know if it was just this maker that did this. the handle is plain steel , but looks like it's got a coat of dull aluminum paint over it. I don't think it's paint.....
also have a fork that looks the same..."coated".
can not find any info. on the net regarding makers ,when stainless first used,ect.
so far no one I've shown this to has ever seen the decal before.
rare? ,seems to be but, worth any more ; doubtful. just neat
