Hey Guys,
Can someone tell me whether there were more than one Richard Abr. Herder trade marks on Army daggers?? I have the one with the double oval however I`m looking at one which is etched on the blade with NO oval. Is this trade mark right? Sorry to ask this, because I`m sure its been chewed over already, but my search on GD did not reveal anything?
Thanks, Dion

I don't have the info on armies, but here is what I have in Luft2s.

Hi John, Thanks for the info mate, thats what I wanted to see. The etched mark without the oval is the one that is on the army dagger I`m planning to purchase. Just wanted to see that that specific trade mark was in fact used. Which, judging from your pics, they did. Now just to find out whether they actually used it on their armies? I`m sure they did however, as they wouldn`t have just applied that mark to the 2nd lufts ? Dion

I think that the army and the Luft2 blades were one and the same, only with different fittings.
Makes sense from a production point of view, I guess.

Absolutely correct. Would make alot of sense, but in saying so, this is the first army dagger I have personally seen with this maker mark? So they really cannot be very common? Would like to find out when and for how long Herder used this maker mark? Was it before or after the double oval. My thinking it was before.

It's not found often on Luft2s either, but the one inside the double oval is.

Dion I dont keep records of maker marks that I have seen but I can tell you that I have seen this on an army dagger before. The dagger I was looking at had Pack aluminum hilt fittings so I would safely say it is the earlier of the two marks. I really wanted the dagger but the seller was very hard to deal with so I told him to go fly a kite so needless to say I do not own the dagger. Absolutely correct. Would make alot of sense, but in saying so, this is the first army dagger I have personally seen with this maker mark? So they really cannot be very common?
