Here are some pictures of a kriegsmarine-scabbard that I've never seen before. Is this some kind of a modern repro? I hope someone can tell me what it is. gr. Dan

Thanks for the link nats but I for one won't be bidding against dr Dr If you had invested in Wittman's book on Navies you wouldn't have needed to ask and show your hand/interest only one to benifit will be the vendor now

I see that the dagger did not sell. The reserve price was 2100 Euro and the bidding stopped at 2000. Another proof of how slow the hobby currently is.

How much extra would this scabbard have cost compared to the standard production item?

Doug, if I remember correctly, there was a navy dagger with chased scabbard offered at $7000 on militarycollectiblesinc.com a couple of years ago. Of course, we all know about Brian Maederer's prices, and this was before the recession, but it gives an idea of the value of such a dagger.

If somebody "Out there" has a WKC catalog of the time, the models are not only listed, but as are the "extras".Vergoldet/versilbert.etc. I know where there is one now,WKC,ivory grip, hand chased early scabbard just slightly different in overall detail but very very similar. .I have "first dibs " on it.
