Thanks. I believe this one to be original, but I am interested in any things I should check to confirm this.
I have checked it with a black light and it looks good (nothing glows).
I had the badges looked at by someone that knows them well and they were confident the badges were good.
I haven't found any markings, but I haven't spent much time looking.

You need close up photos of the ss eagle and ss runes.

Will these work? I can get higher resolution if needed.
The eagle is little out of focus, but I won't get a chance to get a better one today.

I bought the one repro just because of the price. took it home found out it was just a bit to big.
figuring it was from India or Pakistan ,I washed it in hot water & in the the dryer Several times .
I'll be dammed , never shrank , & the color Did not run. actually was/is a quality item.
wish I knew made it !

I love Panzer uniforms. I have a Hohenstaufen wrapper. I know these uniforms are rare, but there are some out there. Problem I have with some collectors is there
verdict. I have seen original items being valued as fake when they were in fact original. In the meantime everything was stripped from the uniform. Showing your
items on the internet to look for help can have disastrous results.

Ray, your wrapper looks like a late war one. Course fabric and so on. Can you show pictures of the lining... under the arms etc.

yes know what fred means. a local dealer had one ,no one thought it any good, so the dealer low balled the price (which I did not know). a big collector walked in & got a steal of a deal on it.
I think the reflection on the jacket was more on the dealer......no chance in heXX he found a real one...

I am traveling for a few days and will post more pics when I return. I do feel confident this one is correct. It is sometimes hard to sort through the feedback on items, but often those with real knowledge can back up a conclusion with details, while others are just stating an opinion that may or may not be based on real knowledge of the subject. I welcome learning from those that really know their stuff.

I can't wait to see the pictures. What can't be seen from photographs is the feel one has when touching an item. Instincts and experience say more than a mere photograph of the item.

Thanks!
Now I need to start trying to determine the value, and deciding if I will keep it or sell it. I see similar items being offered between $5000 and $21000, but none exactly like this. Of course the asking and real selling prices can be far apart. Is anyone aware of any recent auctions or sales that might give me a sense of the value on this one?

At the moment it is not for sale. I have more research to do on this and several more pieces before I decide which I will keep in my collection.

Thanks,
Ray

Ray, if you sell the wrapper to a collector expect to get criticism from fellow collectors who think they experienced enough to judge on the wrapper. This alone makes me think twice about continue collecting. I'll keep my wrapper for many years to come. But the value is worth about, in my humble opinion, 12000. Your wrapper is ok!

Happy Christmas!

You are so right, Fred. But there is a better option. Stop joining the internet militaria forums. These "shitpiles" are the main reason I stopped hosting this SA-forum a long time ago ( in fact, I was the founder of this SA-Forum). It just does not work. Look at the topic about the WSS tunic on this forum where some "member, who without any doubt thinks he's an expert, just makes one short comment "eagle and writing on tunic look bogus`. Wow, that makes one think twice before asking any opinions.
So Fred, my fellow dutchman (who's collection I would love to see once so send me a PM ), don't stop collecting, just stop sharing your treasures

If anyone is going to Show of Shows and wants to see this in person, shoot me an email at [email protected]

I don't have a table but I plan on bringing this along with several other tunics, an SS camo smock, knights cross(or two), and a bunch of other stuff.
