I think it is quite beautiful Tom. I do personally prefer daggers that show honest wear & period use against the pristine stuff that others so frequently desire. Appears that the scabbard is also brass? Bit of a sucker for a nice grip myself and that one is super! You just don`t get that tone on anything that isn`t very early. Nice!!!!

Ha, Tom:
I saw this before you did...and spent several hours trying to convince you to buy it from Paul. Great dagger, great choice, you lucky man.
Not to mention the two waffenrocks.

John I must admit at the first quick glance I was not to excited but soon fell in love when I took the time to really look at the dagger-thanks to my buddies for not only finding it but selling it to me after we had 42 drinks Ha, Tom:

Tom, That is a great dagger and I cannot even remember the last time I saw a C&J this early. I think you were very wise snapping this one up while you could. Without a doubt it is brass based throughout, it is a stunning addition. Congrats.
p.s The quillion swirls are interesting, I wonder if that is a feature seen on all early C&J's?.

Jon Thank You - I noticed the quillions today when I got the dagger out for inspection they are quite unique almost like little stubs sticking up. I also like how the top of the crossguard head has been flattened. The early WKC guard seems to be the only close match to me? Your thoughts? Larry thanks The hangers are brass based as well and your right the detail is amazing they have some nice hand work no doubt they have been married the last 70 years. I almost sold them at the show glad I kept them with the dagger. Hi Tom,, A great prize from the Hunt!! Beautiful! I like the hanger clips detail of the oak leaves and your photos are crisp. Tom, it is a fantastic dagger, I really like it! Congratulation. Early C&J army daggers are so rare. IMO you made the right decision to buy it. Who knows when would be the next chance to find another one?
Another great addition to your amazing collection!
