These bayonets were previously called Feldherrenhalle bayonets as well as SA bayonets but they were likely used by students at the Feldafing NS school. For the most part, these bayonets were manufactured by Eickhorn although a scant few have been seen by Henckels. I've never seen or heard of an unmarked example. Regarding the etch itself, the lettering seems much wider on the cursive letters than the example I have & all those I've seen. One thing to be wary of, there are some pretty good reproductions of this etch pattern.
I'm not sure about the frog but it appears suspicious giving the overall impression this bayonet could be a period bayonet tarted up with postwar etch & frog.

Billy is correct, this etch is seen primarily on Eickhorn marked bayonets and very rarely on Henckels.
I talked with Ron about these and he has only seen this on these two makers.
Here is a picture of the two etches side by side, the top one is Eickhorn, the bottom is Henckels.
With the slight difference in etching that you show along with the lack of a maker mark on the blade, I would not have this etch into my collection.
John
Always looking for Eickhorns and etched bayonets.

mike,
Billy and John, are right about the 2 TM'S and the lettering dose look wider on that one. I do see 3 other things that look a little off.
1. the blue line shows open lope. 2. green line shows the two letters farther apart.
3. black line shows dot above i
number 1 and 2 I can't see on Johns Henckels from that angel. theone I show is a Eickhorn TM.
Steve,
Looking for PP mag # 981029

Dear fellow collectors, please go even more into minute details so the fakers that did the fake etching can learn when studying our forum and avoid any mistakes at their further fakes. Regards,
