I just arrived last weekend from Europe and I was very fortunate and thrilled to have met both Janos and Samuel ( aka: Nakida ).
I first arrived in Budapest for a few days.
An absolutely magnificent city with wide avenues and impressive historical buildings.
Janos and its lovely wife were kind enought to invite us ( me and my wife ) to a typical Hungarian restaurant.
I must also say that Janos has a fine taste for good wines. Wink

Here's Budapest's most famous building, its Parliament along the Danube river.

Dinner in a typical Hungarian restaurant.
I had to rely on Janos for the menu, as I didn't know what I was ordering. Wink
Needless to say that everything was exquisite. Wink

Sam having his hands full. Big Grin

Who do you think is the Canadian girl between these two ?
Alright, I'll give you the answer, my wife is on the left and Jeanette ( the Swedish girl ) on the right.

We had dinner that evening and it was another memorable night that I shall not forget
Smile.
We will also be going back to Sweden in the short term and I'm hoping that Sam will come and visit me in Canada.
Of course, Janos and his wife are also most welcomed but I think that they will be visiting my friend JohnZ first. Wink

Pat:

Wow! Looks like you had a great trip, good visits, good eating, good wine (& beer) and good friends. What more can anyone ask for?

I, too, will be heading off to Europe later this year and expect to eat, drink and share pointy thing stories with my friends in Norway and Hungary. Janos is a great host and a wine connoisseur. You must have had your eyes opened to the quality of some of the Hungarian wines, right? And, Sweden looks like an awesome place to visit.

Pat, as usual, you take great pictures.

John

Part of the excitment in this hobby is too meet our fellow collectors, here and abroad.
Whenever I go to Europe, I always try and meet someone from GDC, people that I will not usually get to see at the Max or SOS shows.

Nice to see members getting together and having a good time.

One of the good things about this hobby is that you can meet people from all walk of life, different backgrounds, different countries and instantaneously bond with them because you share the same passion: collecting militaria!

BTW how were the girls in Sweden and Hungary? Big Grin

Pat,
It was a pleasure to meet you and your lovely wife.

I see you had a great time in Sweden. Stockholm is a beautiful city!

Have you tried the Swedish aquavit (Akvavit)?
Wow, that is something!! Wink
Akvavit and beer is a really dangerous combination.

I do hope you and your wife will visit Hungary again in the future!

Take care my friend!

Greetings from Budapest,
Janos
