I have just acquired a mint conditioned "smooth tail" Himmler from a LIVING veteran, who I will be video recording on Monday. The finest Himmler dagger I have ever seen. The dagger is untouched, filled with decades of green gunk on the exterior, features a MINT conditioned blade, is a textbook example with a "2" on the lower crossguard. It should settle the matter, for the small minority of people who disbelieve in the "smooth tail" example, once and for all. No chance to say "well, it is only traced back to the 1960s so who really knows." The veteran who landed on D-Day +4, and who liberated one of the concentration camps, will be video'd by me and I will post the video of his testimony, so that this silly chapter of hobby "doubt mongering" can be settled once and for all.

Video testimony is cool,, but will the dagger be in detail on the video? Photos would be better for a closer study as to open up another can of worms grin Looking forward to it,, let us know when and where!

Great, Craig. I've never doubted the "smooth tail's." Sounds like you've nailed down proof positive. It would be nice to lay the mistaken notion and misinformation they are fake to rest. There used to be a member here (may still be here) who repeatedly and adamantly maintained they are fake.

Yes, I will be able to post photos and more information shortly. I have an appointment at the nursing home to interview the vet on camera, and he will be holding the very same dagger that I picked up from his daughter this week. The dagger is in phenomenal condition, and I'm told the veteran is in TOP mental shape. There are very few people left who doubt the "smooth tail" Himmler, but I'm glad that we have finally located one in the hands of a living veteran.

Everything is 100% exactly like an original Himmler dagger except the eickhorn has a smooth tail...so it's a fake. Yea right, does not even make sense.

I did the vet interview on camera yesterday, and I will be processing it and also taking pics of the dagger this week. Sorry for the delays!
