Nice original, I don't believe they have reproduced this model. Yet. My only concern is the condition of the blade, it looks a little rough. Is it plate loss or smudged cosmoline? Is there a maker's mark? What is going on with the scabbard finish, is it covered in gunk? Perios PSS scabbards were blued.

You have an Imperial era S9805 bayonet that has been chromed, ingraved, and the grips replaced with stag grips and inletted for a TR Police Eagle. Can't say this is legit and I have never seen an issued Butcher bayonet with a modification like this before.

Hey Billy Yes,the blade has some plate loss. I can see under the magnifying glass three last letters in three lines ......B ......R ......E
Which i think is Gottlieb Hammesfahr & Co., Solingen-Foche. The scabbards bluing is completely gone.

I agree that this is an original period PSS Seitengewehr. The only issues that I see are the condition of the blade and scabbard and that the frog is incorrect as it is for an S 84/98.

Is the somewhat poor fit of the obverse grip stag typical on these?
The reverse grip seems to fit much better.
Thx, Lance

I find the condition of the hilt/cross guard engraving and finish incredible given the condition of the blade and scabbard. Almost unbelievable. Only some flaking of the finish on the edges of the hilt.

Joe,
It looks to me, from the pictures, that the blade and the scabbard have been improperly cleaned with some harsh chemical. I have seen this before when naval jelly was used to clean bayonets. The scabbard shows this chemical cleaning in particular.
