I PICKED THIS UP FROM E-BAY AS I HAD NEVER COME ACROSS A CAP WITH PINK PIPING,I PUT A MAGNIFYING GLASS OVER THE PIPING AND NOTICED THERE WERE TWO COLORS,THEY APPEAR TO BE A PURPLE COLOR INTERWOVEN WITH THE PINK.IT HAS A NICE LEATHER SWEAT BAND AND A RATHER FANCY YELLOW SATIN WAFFLE DESIGN LINER. ANY IDEA ????
THANKS, DAVE H

Dave. none of my books show pink as a service color.
the rest of the hat looks good , but I would swear it was red & white and the colors ran = 2 shades pink.
but the rest of the hat is not dis colored.
even fld. art. / coastal art. is shown as 2 different reds together on the piping (in this book).

hopefully some one else has a clue.

I would bet Ordnance Corp. It is called crimson on the charts but the neck scarves we wore were more pink than anything.

Let me expand a bit. This is 1964-1966. I was in Army doing missile repair. 2nd echelon and higher is Ordnance responsibility. On semi important occasions we worn neck scarves indicative of our branch. Infantry = powder blue, Cavalry = yellow, etc. Ordnance was pink, no matter what they called it on the charts and Artillery was red. Your might be either, but I would pick Ordnance.

O.K. but, in ww2 the Ordnance department was red (or pink) with yellow = 2 different colors.
engineers were red & white.
art was red & red.
transportation was crimson & gold yellow
adjutant general's dept. was red & blue
medical was burgundy & white.
no other "red" colors.

any one know when the army discontinued piping colors on over seas caps (ect.) ?
