I have a Italian Youth knife that has a lions head for the pommel. Most have the bird head, is it a rank thing? Any information on these?

I was told by a member I emailed that all these so called Italian youth daggers are in fact knives made up for the GI's out of factory parts after Italy surrendered. It is the same quality as the birds head youth knifes, I was digging through some boxes and discovered it. Thank you "member" for your input.

While I believe most of the youth knives were in fact put together for the GI's, I also spoke with an Italian Gentelman who was in the Ialian Youth movement. Interesting to note that his youth knife (which he had there along with his black youth uniform), was a model 1932 MVSN.
However, he told me that the elite Italian combat troops, were encouraged to develope their own combat knives. This knife is quite different than your noormal bird headed youth knife that I am wondering if perhaps that is what this is, a personallized combat knife.
Just my 2 cents

Thanks Jim, I had forgotten I had it and dont remember where I got it. The lions head is what intrigued me. I have searched all over the internet and cant find an example like it. But that is what it is like in this hobby~~The search continues! Bill
