Hello! I stumbled on this German dagger at a garage sale. I really liked it, but before I blow 95 dollars I'd like to know what I'm buying. Could someone tell me a little bit about this dagger? Thank you so much! [img][IMG] http://i.imgur.com/6Q3l5.jpg[/img][/img]

Well it may be or may not be an original Luftwaffe second model dagger. To my eye, the suspension rings look to be of too small a diameter stock to all the ones I have had or seen. There appears to be a darkening in the grooves where grip wire was though.
I imagine "time is of the essence" so I hope others weigh in here.

Split rings for suspension rings do NOT bode well for that garage sell find!

Looks like a 2nd luftwaffa.....With out seeing the blade and other veiws hard to tell if authentic or not. Is missing the wire that wrapped grip, hangers and porteepe
Ive set a goal......find a FHH and buy it from a vet.

Even from that one picture I am sure it is a reproduction 2nd pattern Luftwaffe dagger.
Save your money for the real thing.
