I want to thank you guys on my previous post on current fair market price would be on this piece. I do appreciate it.

I just recieved this Wednesday, it took a few months but it's here. I had a chance to field strip it yesterday, she matches all the way down to the grip plates and the firing pin. Bear with me a little bit, I have a number of pics. It came with the holster, two clips and tool. Unfortunately the clips don't match, thus the scavanger hunt begins. Smile

Any and all additional information is appreciated. I'm not a Luger collector, I only have two.

Pic 3. It has the E/63 acceptance stamps, it had the mid-army proof mark. The grips have very little wear, they still have the sharp feel in the palm of you hand.

Police holster, the oddity is that it's dyed black on the front and brown on the back. Saving money or just lazy?

1936 FRANZ COBAU. You can notice it was tagged, possibly with captured paperwork information. I'll get with the vets son and find out if there were any capture papers with it.

One early police clip marked with a 2, the other is a combat clip marked with a plus.

The only other marks are the dove at the bottom of the mag and what looks like a sunburst K. It appears to be early police?

She came with what looks like six period shells. One's dated 1944 and the others are a mix of possible ****nal markings and/or date code.

I tried to re-edit the word in the previous post thinking it was a mistake on my part. Let's subsitute the word here and make it armory. BTW, what's up with the censorship on a legitimate word?

Back on topic, check out the two different jackets on the shells. Anybody have info?

I want to thank you all. Regards, Steve.

It looks as if the pistol has been reblued. If that is the case it lowers the value 50%.I am not a Luger expert.Maybe I should of said that first.

zorro,

I see what you may be thinking about the finish. It's a very pretty gun and in excellent shape. In my opinion it's 95% or better. It doesn't appear to be re-blued to me. I'll show two examples.

Pistols left the factory fully blued. When they went to the police armories they were modified with a sear safety after bluing. Here's two pics of the rivet that's not blued and the side plate. If it had been re-blued they would have done it all.

Steve.

You can see where the bluing has been disturbed in both pics.

Brickie,

Glad you liked the Luger. I showed it to a couple of dealers a few weeks ago at a Dallas show. They were very impressed with it. There's always been four or five Lugers that I've always wanted and a Police was one of them.

I've got a few more pics that I had in a folder that I had sent to a couple of members here via email before I posted it. Both days weren't a very good picture day but I thought I might as well add them.

Regards, Steve.

I want to thank all of you guys for posting on two different threads on this Luger. Both are very much appreciated. Military weapons and such are only a sideline for me. And specializing is just as unique to the dagger collector as to the helmet collector, ect. It's just hard to know all of it. I'm happy to have internet forums like this and to have friends here willing to help.

Many thanks. Regards, Steve.
