lately things have been a little slow for sword purchases for me state side so i have been paying more attention to Europe. I found this nice WKC piece last week with a couple of Seilheimers.. anyone know the model number??

Sturmbrigade, Great looking hilt design from the unusual pommel to the crossguard eagle. Lots of chiseling and detail went into this raptor, he's quite unique. Any idea what that extra hole is for, just below the brass mounting nail? Very nice!  Bill

Hiya Bill,
it looks to me like a casting flaw or an attempt at drilling to mount? as its quite shallow (doesn't go right through) and has a beveled bottom? its quite strange...

Never saw this combination of langet and No.1056-type pommel before.

An interesting sword. This backstrap was also used on the WKC Nr.5 sword but with a different P guard. I have never seen this particular guard before either.

My congratulations also for a very nice sword  . With an Eagle that I don't ever remember seeing before myself. As for the hole who knows? But if it came out of Europe, and the Eagle was facing the wall. It might have been done to be "politically correct"? With a hole for something like a headless nail to hang it and keep it in place?? FP

Thanks guys i have been told that there is a Lionhead version of this in Angolia's Swords of Germany. I dont have a copy, can someone check page 145 and if possible provide a pic?

Very similar but not quite the same. The one shown in Angolia is on a jawless lionhead and the guard is a bit different from yours. There is a quillon block on the one shown on page 145 and it has an unmarked blade.

Great score! I used to see these periodically, but never in collectible condition.
You also will find this with the no maker blade.
That`s one to keep.
