Well we don’t see this one too often or hardly at all!, and this one is very rare! This Beauty was a Paul Hogle “Lakesidetrader” pickup. When I hear Lakesidetrader, I know its going to be a great transaction and it always is!! What I really enjoyed the most about this maker is the grip and the scabbard color are almost near perfect, matching in color. The scabbard itself still has 99% laque if not 100% ! Its that Zapon type finish I believe. The blade is very nice and it is not grey at all,, just my lighting when photographing. August Kullenberg is still in business today doing what they do best. I am proud to own this rare example and I thank Paul Hogle for his help. Check out the McSaar listing on rarity. Larry

Good buy and great display. You really want to find a short hanger to go with the belt loop. Maybe the grip strap, too.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. These are like hunting trophies. I like the feeling of satisfaction, when they are acquired. I had this one for awhile, but finally made the time to post it. Rare daggers dont come easy for me and I just happened to be at the right place at the right time. You really want to find a short hanger to go with the belt loop. Maybe the grip strap, too. My thoughts also and I will bring the belt loop with me to the Max show in hope of finding someone that might be able to match it or close to it. Thanks again,, Regards Larry

Is that pin meant to be worn on a uniform, and is it matched to the specific dagger? Just wondering.

Hey Spacey, good question,, this type eagle is an 1929 SA/SS cap eagle. During that period when the SA was the #1 political force,, this cap eagle was used on their Kepis and the SS was (a small branch of the SA) during that time as a protection unit,, also used this style eagle on their hats during that time period, up unto 1935. So yes to your question it is matched to this dagger since both the dagger and SA eagle are early period. The dagger and eagle are separate and not from the original owner. Cap eagles, armbands and belt buckles IMO help enhance any display or collection. Below is my link to a Haco SA dagger I posted with the use of an SA belt buckle and an armband. http://phpstack-500133-1583587.cloudwaysapps.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=247171#Post247171 I have seen much better displays from other members that would be worth the time to search for here on the GDC. Best regards Larry
