OK ,,so if you seen one Haco you have seen them all and this one is an exception, because it is my first to own one.
When I received this example from our SA Moderator Mike McAlvanah, I almost fell over when I laid my eyes on those thin crossguards. Always in pictures I saw the thin crossguards but in hand,,a whole different story.
The overall condition is most excellent and I am very well pleased. I am a collector at heart and treasure any example I acquire, and this one is not going anywhere. I do have to say that this example does stand out when placed side by side with a few other SA makers. The crossguards and the oak grip say it all.
I took a peak inside the crossguards and it has that “Reddish Pink”magic marker type writing inside the crossguards. (See Ralf Siegerts SA book pg. 83-84 upper right hand side) I can not identify the numbers but the are there. I will post later only if needed and by request.

Forgive my inconsistency ,,shooting the photos since they were a little complicated due to the lighting was not at its best and a week prior my wife took my original background away from me and put it back in the linen closet. Here are a few pics of my first Haco SA. One can only imagine in the center of the web (Berlin )how many bigshots this dagger was near. Larry

To me Haco SA's look like Suhl products. Either Haenel or Kober, less like Sauer. It is very likely they are because HACO, as we know, is not a maker but a distributor. Suhl is also relatively close to Berlin... much closer than Solingen.

Thanks guys for the kind words,,its a great Early SA. It gives me the same chills when I look at a Boker SS logo. I guess because Berlin being in the center of the web.

I have read that also and it kinda makes sense that it possibly could be a Suhl maker. What I find interesting is that Suhl daggers had a low step to their crossguards,, to where The Haco crossguard has done the opposite by keeping the step in conformity with all other makers but minimizing the bottom and top of the crossguards making them look thinner. So IMO Suhl not drawing too much attention to themselves kept it within the same family, but doing the opposite with the crossguards.
A good example is the early SS daggers 120/34 & 121/34, no one has really pinned their identity but most indicators point to Krebs.
So yes someone made these daggers and Haco distributed them.
Hacos do standout with craftmanship.
I have a few more SAs to post soon. Thanks again! Larry

Congrats, Larry, you finally own one smile
Let's not forget there were also other Thuringian makers who made the grips in such way. Look at August Bickel (Left) - bit different shape, but same type of finish. I have no idea exactly which company made HACO daggers, but there is definitely a connection with Gau Thüringen, where there was enough of factories big or small to complete the job for Berlin.
