A day before the Canada Post Office went into a country wide labour disruption, this item arrived from a GDC forum member.
It is a HJ Leader with the Eickhorn RZM 7/66 TM. While it has been repaired, Eickhorn leaders are pretty scarce items and I decided to go for it.
The repairs on this consisted of releathering the scabbard and adding an HJ insignia to the upper scabbard fitting.
Here it is...

This RZM marked leader joins his earlier seated squirrel model.

Thanks, JohnZ! Interesting to note that all daggers details are slightly different. What is the difference in blades length?

My picture taking probably over emphasizes any length differences.
35-41 marked dagger - top of pommel to top of crossguard = 10.2mm - tip of blade to bottom of crossguard = 23.6mm - scabbard length = 23.5mm
RZM marked dagger - top of pommel to top of crossguard = 10.0mm - tip of blade to bottom of crossguard = 23.7mm - scabbard length = 24.5mm
I will not take either of these daggers apart.

Early HJ Leader's Daggers by Eickhorn are a study unto themselves. Several different variations, all rare. Some with pommels that screw on and off like an Army Dagger, Some with plated blades and some with natural finish blades like SA Daggers. Some with screw on scabbard fittings and some with soft scabbards and some with solid scabbards. One could do a complete book on HJ Daggers and probably never find all the different variations.

Thanks, John. Yes, probably this rare type of 3R daggers is the only one which has so many different variations.

Quite a bit more cruve to the crossguard on the RZM one. Two nice daggers I'd take either one.

I'm with Ed, I'd be happy with either one. Very nice pickup John.

Thx, guys.
I don't usually (knowingly) buy daggers which have had major surgery performed on them. But, in this case, I couldn't pass up the chance to get an RZM version, admittedly the more common mark of an uncommon maker, of a hard to find dagger to display beside its earlier maker marked version.

John really nice to see this pair. The early Eick. is certainly NOT textbook and I'm so glad no one condemned it. It's seldom seen and a beauty. Thanks for sharng.

Thank you for it, Gottlieb.
It arrived the day before the Canada Post guys decided to convince the holdouts that going to electronic mail was a way better idea than providing work to their membership. So, between strikes and lockouts, nothing is moving.
And, now, I have two neat HJ Leaders by Eickhorn to go with my eight different Eick HJ knives.
