Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. You can start with Holler etch patterns on E. Pack marked blades & poor overall quality (even for Holler) for starters.

Yep, you will never find a Holler etch on a Pack bayonet or vice versa.
No need to look much farther than that. But, the etch quality isn't even up to Holler's sometimes sloppy standards.

Gladiator:
I know all about the cost of getting an education.. I could show you examples of the fakes and fantasies that I own and have had over the years.
The value of this forum and others like it is that there are many people out there (some who have made the mistakes that we have) who are ready to help us to not be taken advantage of.

As stated by the guys , dont give up , everyone has been burnt at some stage , I have used this forum to ask the most simple of questions at times and have always got the answers i needed , there are some great people here more than willing to help . I don't know the situation in which you found these? , I found my etch at a local antique shop had no idea at the time if it was right and had no access to any help , my urge to buy it overwhelmed me , guess what ! it was a bad one and i payed the retail rate for it , he must have done research as to the cost of them , on the flip side , same shop 2 years later i bought a fully matching k98 dou44 rifle for the same price as a rc mismatch ! (and got an original sling freeeeeee) , tha'ts karma ! onwards and upwards Regards Will.

Thats right........Oh I didnt pay a fortune for these...But I did pay too much for what they are.......My temptation over ruled my better judgement. This is just a bump in the road, and I'll get over it. I havent decided what I will do with these, I may sell them and be totally honest with the buyer.......Or I may keep them as a constant reminder to always do my homework fist. Either way it is time to build my reference library.
Thanks for the encouragement and Best Reguards too all..... Dave

Dave:
You have heard this before and will hear this again:
There are three very important things you need to do to minimize your risk of being taken in by the fakers and the 'enhancers' in this hobby.
1) Learn as much as you can.. buy books and read them, go to shows and handle as many of these things as you can cram into the days, listen to what people are saying around you.
2) Make friends, do not make enemies. Friends will help you and may keep you from making big mistakes.
3) Go onto forums such as this one. Take the attitude that you do not know everything and are willing to listen and learn.
Remember, everyone is human and, therefore, everyone makes mistakes. A mistake does not make a man a crook. Deliberate and ongoing mistakes and misleadings does.
I think that you are handling the unwelcome news on these etches very well.
