I know nothing-and I mean NOTHING about helmets, so any information- including a valuation-assuming it has a value-would be greatly appreciated

This is an M35 Luftwaffe helmet in moderately poor condition. The size, 64 is the most common size and I think it is all original. As for value, that is rather subjective but I should think between $300 - $500 depending. Many do not collect items in this condition, others prefer "salty" been there helmets.
Cheers,
-Mike

Looking at it again, are those tan splotches paint? If they are they may be remnants of winter camo, which would increase the desireability to many collectors.

Hi Mike, thanks for your input. Yes the splotches are a sand sort of colour paint, much more of which remains on the the other side of the helmet. (there also seems to be a ghostly outline of another decal on that side-is that normal??does this make a difference ?????

What do the numbers mean? I guess from your earlier comment size is one thing, but can we learn anything else about this piece from them? maker for instance, or year of manufacture?
Thanks for your help

Paul

The sand colour could indicate an overpaint for service ine N.Africa or the Mediterranean areas of operation. This would, if original, make the helmet more desireable. As for the markings the ET64 means the helmet is 64cm in diameter and made by Eisenhuttenwerk AG, in Thal. The other numerals are a lot number which identifies the lot of steel from which the planchets are made. My earlier estimate with a low of $300 was based on the parts value only. I think it would be higher now.

This forum is predominatly for edged weapons. I would suggest that you consider joining the one at German Helmet Wallaha which is for those with a specific interest in helmets.
Give it a look and when you are able to post photos there do so and you will get much better opinions than mine.
Cheers,
Mike

Sorry for the delay in response.
Yes, once one makes a certain number of posts it is possible to list the item for sale. The best thing is to show photos - good close-ups and open to discussion. You will get good opinion on the originality of the piece and perhaps some advice on value.
Cheers,
-Mike
