hello gents, been awhile since I visited the site. I just "made" this box for an SS dagger. not great but, not bad.
hard to find the right type of box to convert over. ussually not long enough . this was a card board made box , I'm guessing for displaying silver chains. it works. I just added a "form" then, covered with velvet. then painted the top. I have been making "gun boxes" for a bit. same logic.
I'd like to make more but, the right box is difficult to find in my travels. any comments reguarding what you see? = just in case I make more. thanks , jeff

Nice home for dagger! I have one similar from 70s. Only on the top are SS runes and not eagle.

nice!
may be next time you should use the right eagle:
five rows of feathers
facing to the left

Very nice, especially the form-fitting part. How did you apply the eagle?

thank you gentlemen . Rakra this is a correct eagle. not what was typically used as you point out. art work for it was copied from an original bullion patch but, super sized for this. I believe the original eagle was for a dress cape. looks better than the typical type in my opinion. thought of using the eagle for the gorget ..... I painted it on ,with a "silver" paint ,then added the black details.
The original cases / boxes were "only" for the honor daggers ,or presentation pieces. they don't have any logos on them. so with that, I could play around with this one.
I currently own 42 SS daggers, mostly with the SS codes. AND no ,I have never had to pay a lot for any of them.
I made an SS ring box awhile back .= wood ,6 sided ,& black of course.
if I can find the photos of that ,I will post them (different section of forum).
thanks again on the comments; one needs encouragement to continue making stuff like this. jeff.

Jeff..VERY nice craftsmanship! The interior looks French Fitted?

The Eagle..correct or not I can't say but so well done! You say it was applied then the lines drawn in? That's amazing.

For your boxes..there are many sources for boxes..Companies that sell basic box types. I am sure a Google search might provide some sources.

That eagle is really something! It looks like it was painted with a stencil.

Hi Jeff nice job just wondering if amongst your substantial haul of SS daggers if you have a RZM 7/72 1942 one

AJ , I don't believe I have that one. do not recall any of my SS being as late as 1942. have 2 SA s of 42, different topic.
thanks for liking this case. need to find 1 case/ box that is proper , then find some one in china to reproduce them. then I could rework the insides to take any third reich dagger, that fits. just a dream.... jeff

ralf, you just won't let it go.....(ha ,ha). did not realize these were going for that type of money.
am I wrong but, was there an early regulation about which way the head faces ... military verses political, verses civilian eagle ? might not been followed or enforced ? jeff

Left face ,right face it sounds like a military drill, the guy did a great job making the box and that's what he's asking about.Nice job.IMO
