If this plate is referring to 16th SS Panzergrenadier Division Reichsführer-SS, that particular division did not come into being until 1943

it reads: Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit bei der Div.-Reichsfuhrer-SS Gustav Langer 1941-43. it translated: Memory of my service with the Division Reich Fuhrer ?

These over-adorned things rarely prove to be real. The SS was very particular about the use of their name and their symbols. If this was made pre-May 45, that poorly formed chicken and botched inscription would have got the maker in deep doodoo. JMO

I'm wonder why a silver plate would have such a plain hanging attachment and not a silvered one?

Just giving my completely inexpert opinion - but I think the head of the eagle looks kinda large and goofy compared to some other TR eagles. I'm not really impressed by the font style, either. Seems very plain and lacking in artistic consideration, which strikes me as odd.
