Hi Folks...Just wondering if what this guy says on E bay is true???

"Weyersberg was the exclusive manufacturer of edged weapons for the DRP. All officer's daggers and enlisted bayonets carry the Weyersberg trademark. Bayonets are marked with a unique oval stamp"

I have a DRP marked Bayonet, well its not really marked on the Bayonet,it's marked on a metal plate attached to the frog. But it is not made by Weyersberg??

Here is a link to see this DRP marked Bayonet. Thanks for the help

Regards Sepp

I believe that statement to be incorrect, Alcoso also had a contract to produce DRP bayonets. Weyersberg marked examples are more common than Alcosos but all are scarce.

Sepp, check this topic http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/...270017665#3270017665
Unfortunately, DRP marked frog is not associated with the postal service, this is a patent stamp on the back of the metal backed frogs.

Wow Thanks alot guys...Mind is the SAME as
...Steven C posted... on the link provided by andrei1774.

Thanks again andrei1774, and Billy G for your inputs.

I will contact the seller(which I am sure he does not know this info) and see what he says...By the way the Bayonet I bought was made by "Rich Abr Herder" I paid $155.00 for it

The Bayonet is in great condition, washer present, and the frog is in very good condition

Do you think I got hurt to badly paying $155.00
for it? Seeing some, on the link said that the frog with a D.R.P. marked plate on it was kind of rare?

Regards
Sepp

The Link:http://cgi.ebay.com/WWII-GERMAN-DRP-DEUTSCHE-REICH-POST-DRESS-BAYONET_W0QQitemZ290415174533QQcategoryZ36045QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp4340.m263QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DDLSL%252BSIC%26its%3DI%252BC%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%252BDDSIC%26otn%3D20%26po%3D%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D8638733671745782476

Regensburg, maybe...... I'm thinkin yeah possibly. Herder with the frog sounds like a reasonable deal. I think the PW shown on the bay is ok. shame it will get split up after its sold I bet. nice froggie. Do a search on the forum here for DRP bayos you will find quite a few. Like the leaders the knots are the bugger to find.

The auction ended just over $500 which I guess considering what dealers ask & the overall condition including the marked frog, isn't that bad. One could presume it may have ended higher because it was listed here before the end but you never know.

Andrei raises a good point, this bayonet has the "DRP" below the issue number. Most (but not all) I have seen & have pictures of in my files have the "DRP" above the numbers. Of those I have seen with the letters below the numbers, the letters usually tend to have serifs but where the letters are above the numbers they tend to be plain as in this example.

Another observation, the letters' font is similar but spaced wider than on many other examples. Has anyone else seen this type of letter positioning?

The frog, on the other hand, seems to show the more usually seen "DRP" font & spacing closer together. This is my first time seeing such a DRP marked leather backed frog, has anyone else seen such an item?

Billy,
I'm glad you like the Kober. I knew you'd recognize it. It came out of your stable Smile Thanks so much, I really enjoy it. I like the unit mark type stuff, it was a pic I had on file, the old girlfriend has the camera now so I had to pull what I already have. Looks like I'm going to have to buy a new one.

Steve
