Hello guys, I have two rings that can be mine, the problem is that I dont have experience with rings, so I really cant tell if they are original or repro? I saw that one member uses the "flat skull ring" for his avatar so maybe one of them is legit? Any info regarding originality and Price would help me out a lot Thanks guys cheers

Hi! I think i know the ring you talk from. Mine is exact the same pattern in a little better condition. Silver, cast, with perfect content-stamp "830" and a well made seam. For me for sure a well made pre 45 ring and i like it real! And i think german made too. So it has a place in my little skull-collection. Military? I am real not sure - for sure a skullring or "memento mori"ring favored used by military personal in this times. But everyone that has the money could buy them. Untill today mine was the only of this pattern i saw. The other ring is well known old pattern and some call it the "Ostfront"-ring because of the flowers on the band. There exist some different of this pattern. Ultimately from your pics i like both of this rings.

No problem - its a pleasure for me!
Prices? Very difficult-its a prickly problem. Its a question of the condition of the ring, how rare it is and what its worth for you.
My value for one of these 2 rings would be max. 100 Euro, but i think a lot people would pay more. Dealer prices are higher.

Odal, You wrote that everybody that had the money could buy the ring? Do you know who used to wear the "flat skull" ring ? Pantzer troops? Wehrmacht? SS?

Anyone that could afford it could have bought it and worn it, to include civilians.
I'd say once the war started with not much money around, shortages, etc. civilians spent their money on clothes, food, fuel, etc. The skull rings were popular with all the branches of the military and para military and that's usually who wore them..

BTW: If you should buy these rings you can take them to a jeweler and he can re-shape the out of round bands for you. Jim

For me its a pre 45 ring. I have a similar one, unmarked, maybe Alpaca. The swaz was hammered away, but the details are really good.

My buddy has a mint in box skull and crossbones ring like shown here. Has red enamel in eyes and thin band.
Just a small warning,,another just sold very recently. And sure could be coincidence. Same condition [no enamel] Be on the watch,,when the same pattern of a rare ring starts showing up something isn't right.. Try to stay with this pattern with thin band and enamel..

This ring was recently sold on ebay. And imho it looks okay.
Gaspare, do you have doubts with Zozas (flat-skull-ring), too ??????

The owner of the mint ring wishes not to show his ring, It has nice black enamel field, great detail, with black enamel in/around the teeth and red enamel eyes...
The rings coming out relatively around the same time could be a coincidence for sure..
Zozas ring has a slightly thinner band, which is good.
I'm just saying for everyone to keep their eyes open and watch for others. Collectors send me photos every day to check out, even with great photos its sometimes hard to distinguish between authentic 3rd Reich period and postwar. SO, what we have to work with is all of us collectively watching around the world. Too many of one pattern coming out and that should raise suspicions . So we'll watch and see if more and more start appearing.
