On the Joseph Wolf dagger it appears that someone tried to pick off the runes button but did not go further,,but left more of a clue of the dagger being once messed with at least with the upper scabbard fitting. I do not see any crossgraining except what is running horizontal with the blade spine. Could be alot of "in and out". Melzer and Feller has been opened at one time. Very nice early examples,, Best Larry

Seems to me blade was polished on Wolf dagger and may be eagle was replaced on Melzer dagger, I don't like very much crossguards fittings on Wolf dagger and upper crosguard fitting on Melzer dagger. But may be picture position effect.
Regards,
Ricardo
