Latest acquisition is this bronze bust of Goring by Walther Wolff. Measures about 15 1/2 inches in height. These are actually much rarer that the Hitler busts. I have no desire or intention of polishing the bust, but would like to get rid of all that verdigris. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do so without causing damage?? Thanks for your help and advice -
Gordon

I would only preserve it, but NOT cleaning, you can ruin it! Verdigris is normal, nothing wrong.

I wouldn't try to clean off the verdigris, either. Doing so might actually reveal patches of shiny bronze underneath, because the top layer of patina will have been taken away. A naturally aged look is a lot more appealing than spotted shiny areas. Just wipe off whatever you can with regular soap and water and then leave well enough alone. Just my two cents.
Cool piece.

Odd question??? It was the latest acquisition at the time. Now the latest acquisition is a life size Hitler bust by Ferdinand Liebermann. The Hitler bust has a wooden base that I am in the process of replacing with a marble base. Also a marble base for the Goring.
Best regards -

I just received the bust from Germany and WOW! What a surprise! I thought the bust was life size but this thing is huge! It weighs a ton! Look at the size next to a life size hitler bust.

Very nice busts for sure! Here's a very large wall plaque that I have made of cast iron and weighing in at 30lbs. This plaque was commissioned by artist Arno Breker for the new RK.

That Goring bust somehow reminds me of Jabba the Hutt from Star Wars... T.

if you clean it... the warm water method works well. then use a wooden tooth pick OR wooden popsicle stick (cut the round tip off). try it with the tooth pick first ,in one small spot, = see if it's shinny below. stop or continue after that. jeff
