Michael,
I think this piece is a period produced KS98 bayonet by Puma but with a postwar etch added to embellish it's appeal to collectors. The font is all wrong IMHO. Additionally there is ample wear/scratches on the blade that don't appear on the etch, meaning that the blade was sharpened/scratched up before the etch template was applied.
The shame of it is someone ruined a decent piece with a pretty rare distributor mark.
