Again, it appears to be a very nice private purchase early officer's tunic. The sleeve eagle could be problematic for some of us. Nice acquisition. Be sure to get a brown officer's belt with two prong buckle and a police brocade belt if you want to display the aigullette properly.

Hello,
I have looked at some closer photos of the sleeve eagle, and have concluded that in all it's ugliness, it is probably a period piece, reapplied, but period. These officer's eagles are really difficult to authenticate. This one has some really odd characteristics, but some good one's as well. If it were mine I would replace it since it does not appear original to the tunic, but that said I opine that it is an authentic eagle, albeit; a poorly executed example.
