Hello
This is my first NSKK to my collection.
Does it look original, any issues with it I should be concerned about ?
Does anyone have any info on the makers mark RZM M7/72/40.
Thanks
Merlin

M7/72 Karl Rob Kaldenbach, Solingen-Grafrath is the maker. Very Nice conditioned late model,, is it possible to get one more pic of the reverse blade to see the Rzm logo? I dont see any issues with it and it is in a condition to be expected of a late model. Rarity if it is an early dagger with logo would be a 10 on the McSaar list. Regards Larry

Thanks Larry
Because of the condition I did like the dagger the moment I saw it, however I was wondering could it be too good to be true!!
I will try and post additional photos but having a few problems minimising the photos I took so the site will accept them.
Regards
Merlin

Crop out what you dont need in your photo and little by little minimize your percentage until you reach to about 120-122kb. When shooting your photo it is best NOT to shoot at a High image setting if you are going to post on this Forum,, because of KB size! IMO your image setting should be about 640x480 you will still get quality photos. Looking forward to seeing your photo. Best Larry

Hi Merlin!

I like your NSKK very much! Its a nice one, and the scabbard, has very good paint still! Larry already asked, but still, yes, please, the makersmark, wed like to see? Your motto looks good still and the crossguards dont bubble or loose much plating, if I see it right? Very good! Do you oil your dagger for care and protect against humid? Theres good tips in the forum here, its good advice to keep rust away, but maybe you know all that and Im just ranting. Thanks for showing your greatlooking NSKK! Enjoy it!

Cheers,
KR

Larry / KR

Photo of makers mark as promised.

I haven't put anything on my dagger blades to protect them, I have gun oil, would a light covering of this work? What do you guys use?

Ooh nice mark! I like these 3-numbers-in-row marks, very awesome! Look at this, I also love the crossguard/grip fitting, very snuggly. So, on oil, well, Im near water, and its very humid here? I keep my metal things wiped with, well, yes, basically gun oil, I reckon. Little squares from a pullbox by BreakFree, or that same oil from a bottle with cottonbulbs. I [should] wipe wood with wood oil, but, once did that, and made a grip a few shades darker? So, I just wipe that with the same cloth. Maybe you dont need it? But, the worn blades, like a very worn, beaten and ground Rohm, I can feel get more coarse? rough? slight brownish, when I dont use oil. Just keep eye on the blade! You can use some ACID FREE (!!!) vaseline also, eazier to find, at drugstores and so on. Just be sure to ask for acid free, say that its for a babyskin if they dont understand, and check the package for acids. But more info here on the forum, just search for "rust". Anyways, thanks for that mark! I like

Cheers,
KR

Very Nice Merlin you have done well for your first NSKK, I cant say anymore than what Krullies has added as far as protecting your dagger, just not to heavy on the oil just lightly wipe it on the blade. Until you are ready to display your dagger , keep it in a padded zipper bag with one of those little moisture packets in there also. Depending upon the geographical area in which you live, you would be the only one that would know what the moisture level is. ( I myself) I live on the east coast of the US so for me (personally) in The winter time and put away in the summer. I do not have a controlled environment so this is the course I must take. The humidity in the summer time is horrible here!! Hopefully in the future we will see more of your collection, thanks for sharing Best Larry

I have just used wax on my daggers and firearms for years as well with good results. Here in Arizona low humidity which adversly affects wood is a primary problem.
