I brought this S.S. dagger about 18 months ago.The dagger is not perfect, I think the scabbard has possibly been re-painted, the handle has some slight damage and the blade has been polished, although it retains most of its crossgraining on the motto side. The rear of the blade has been ground which leads me to think it is a ground Rohm. After purchase I got in touch with Ross Kelbaugh of www.ssdaggers.com who researched the engraved number of 52764 and found the dagger to have belonged to SS Scharfuhrer Wilhelm Siebel who served in the S.D. From 1935 onwards. He joined the nazi party in 1929 and served in the S.A.from 1928 to 1933 when he joined the S.S. Ross provided a documentation pack with photos and about 60 pages of info about him and his wife to be. Attached is a photo of him wearing the dagger, according to Ross this is extremely rare.

Out of the now more than 150 SS daggers of which I have identified to men not in the SS-Dienstalterslistes and the several hundred others I have researched, I have only found two with photos of the SS Mann wearing the dagger. Congrats! Ross Kelbaugh www.ssdaggers.com
