Hello Paul, I could be wrong but I believe there is some question as to originality of the first badge you posted. If I remember correctly some say these are post war assembled items using original NSFK icarus insignia, others I believe say that depending on the detail in the icarus face is one determiner of originality. The attachment plate used on originals is supposedly different on originals, I believe originals had a round plate with the makers name on it. One of the other forums had a big thread on these badges, along with some other enamel organizational badges too. I have the same badge you show and also one for a supposed 1940 air race. I have attached a couple of pics of my badge like the one you show Duzig I hope others post what they know and have heard regarding these badges. The tinnie you show I can't really say. regards, Duzig(Bill)

Hello, Here is another NSFK enamel badge that has been discussed either on this forum or others I believe. The date of 1940 for an int'l air race to most seems to indicate this being a bogus item but others have said the possibility of an event taking place during that time period is possible. Duzig(Bill)

Not the same event badge but an interesting link. http://www.reddickmilitaria.com/mm5/merc...ode=200-140-040Wish there was a reverse image. Paul, I don't know what to think of the NSFK enamel event badges or of the tinnie. I sent you some links concerning both. --dj--Joe

THE CONTROVERSY ON THESE ENAMELLED BADGES IS LONG LIVED SO WON'T GO THERE. the TINNIE I HAVE GRAVE CONCERNS OVER DUE TO THE PIN FASTENER WHICH i BELIEVE IS NOT ACCEPTED ON TINNIES AT ALL

Hello again, Joe, I have seen that site and those badges before, also some of the other suspect enamelled badges. These NSFK, and also the HJ Nesselwang and a few others seems to be all over the place at the different militaria shows. Regarding the tinnie, it kind of looks as if the reverse of the tinnie isn't as sharp as on most you see, but this could just be the pic...or my eyes. I believe I bought my NSFK badges shown back in the 80's when I believe they supposedly first surfaced. regards, Duzig(Bill)

Duzig is right about the worminess of the back of the Vienna tinnie, - it is a definite reproduction, as used to be sold by the Rudolf Souval firm of Vienna, Austria. It is in their old 1971 catalog, item #11/56 Gau Wien Abzeichen @ Ös 110, (then $5.oo).
The Reddick NSFK badge is a COPY of the older repros, & lacks the detailing of the first generation types.
