Hello all,
A friend of mine has what if I am not mistaken is a DLV balloonists badge(?)and he asked me if I could find out whether it was an original item or reproduction. I know next to nothing about cloth insignia and badges but I told him I would put it on one of the forums I frequent to see if I could get some info on it. Sorry for the unclear picture of the back of it. I would say the backing looks like black paper or some sort of black cloth(?). In any case I thank all for any help or information that can be supplied.
thanks again
Duzig(Bill)

Hey Duzig,

I replied somewhere else but maybe you don't see that anymore, so here goes ... Seeing fake from real, is very very difficult mostly! But, the quality of German things, usually is good, also the Aufnähers, like this one. If it were real, I think, the finishing would be better, and the (I think is) Eichenlaub, circling the balloon, would be way better. I never saw one of these anywhere! So, I thought, there were no balloons for the DLV or NSFK, but I was wrong! So, thanks for posting this to look into If there was actually one of these patches, I think this one here (below) comes closer, the photo below,put here for future reference, in case the link to the info stops existing;

More info here. Looking at yours, maybe, if the fabric is old (you can test that, people here will know better how to do that ..), then maybe it is a selfmade replacement. Not original, but real wartime made? Did you check fabric already? I think its burning a tiny little thread of the fabric? Anyway, anyone else, please?

Cheers,
KR[/quote]

Hello,
Krullies, I thank you for your reply both here and on the other site. As I stated I know next to nothing about cloth items and tend to steer away from them for lack of knowledge. I thank you again for your information and the link provided.
regards,
Duzig(Bill)
