All, this is for sale on allegro and although I see similar Yugo daggers in the "Dirks of the world" book some details does not work. The black gtip is to new and narowly circled by wire and the bottom grip ring (between grip and crosguard) is diferent. Do you think this is authentic or just another modern tourist souvenir?

FYI the item originates from Wiena - Austria.

Hi Michal.

I would say the grip is a replacement/repair.

The grips on these were made of a very fragile material. Many break off at the base or "crumble".

The rest of the dagger is OK. the ring is similar to one of mine and the blade is "text book".

Good luck

What would you say the value is on those? I am afraid the price this guy is asking offline is a bit over the top.

BTW. Your mailbox is coming back with an error message Jim.

Hi Michal,

I saw one at Reno this last weekend with the original grip that was broken. I could have purchased it for $300.

What mail address are you using for me?

is it [email protected], or are you using the GDC internal?

Here are a few information from serbian military forum about Yugo police daggers.
Kingdom of Yugoslavia had a few formal organization which had daggers for formal states and for uniforms.
All these daggers called Cinovnik daggers.
In early daggers we can find black grips made of wood.
Chief of the police had a daggers looks like navy with ropes design on scabbards.
Administration managers daggers had floral design on scabbards.
Here are the list:
1 Police dagger M1930
2 Administration and financial stuff M1936(Gold finished)
3 Financial inspection stuff M1936(nickiel finished the grip made from plastic over the wood or full plastic color white
4 river and sea transport official M1932 (Gold finished)
5 forrest official M1932
6 national tax official M1933
7 an official of the Ministry of Justice M1935

I hope I didnt mistake translate from serbian to poland and english is breakneck task.Best Ted

Hallo my friends.
I have found one of these on 'delcampe.net' and as I'm not yet able (yes, sorry but this is the worst site for posting pics!) to charge good pictures here so this is the link. What do you think ??:

Very Nice Doctor.

It is good to see you post. I compared my gold model to yours and they are quite similar in designs to include the scabbard bands. The detail on my crossguard and pommel appeatrs to be a little more destinct than yours, but I see no problems.

Nice find. Originals are becoming hard to find. I only have one Yugo police and one Yugo navy left to my collection.
