Here is an odd one.I think the blade,scabbard and insignia look ok. Perhaps someone has carefully replaced the original grips with wooden ones and transferred the insignia?
Any ideas anyone?

An original HJ-knife with a replacement wooden grip, when was it done? Impossible to know for sure. The small diamond was put back in place, which is a good sign.

I have not seen too many transitional Hermann Konejung knifes.

Hello AA, I think you're right. Whoever made the grips and inlayed the HJ insignia did a very nice job! It looks great. Perhaps the original grips were cracked/broken? I like it! Regards, Leipzig

I bought it recently with the intention of replacing the grips with originals. I think people had avoided bidding on it as with those grips, they assumed everything else was wrong.
It could be tricky removing the diamond without damaging it, so I'm not so sure it's a good idea.

Looks like it's much better done than most replacement grip jobs. If you can get it reasonably, why not? I would leave it as is, it's not terrible to look at.

Good point Lance. Can't see why somebody would go through all the work and then put the hj emblem on the wrong grip?

Hello Stan,

Same here, you have an original, late, wartime production HJ knife. I believe that it is an RZM M7/13 (Arthur Schüttelhöfer).

Your knife has a well used blade, the grips replaced and the fingerguard broken off.

That is what makes collecting HJ's so fashinating: they come in all kinds of flavors, they have been used as a real tool before during and after the war!
Like no other German dagger, these knifes are often personalised, repared or modified, but they always keep their main characteristic: qualitatif, multifunctional knifes-daggers!

Here is one I recently picked up from a vets estate. Very well done grip replacement, I would think German done as the GI's seemed to like plexiglas much more. I'll be listing it for sale also so if you want one check it out in the for sale section.
