Hey Folks,
Just kicking around selling my 41 dated Luger.. All matching but the mag.. bummer.
the only real "bluing" damage I can see is on barrel end and side plate. There is some lighting of the bluing on the left side of the barrel.
Any thoughts?

From what I can see I'd ball park it in the $2,000 range(retail). Let me add a caveat that it's a buyers market in practically every collecting area at this time and IMO Lugers aren't an exception. After the panic buying of firearms last last year into earlier this year firearms sales(both new and collectibles) are at a crawl. Several dealers that normally do the Crossroads show here told me they're skipping the one next weekend as they didn't make enought to even cover their table expenses at the last show. Jim

The Standard Catatlog of Military Firearms lists it at $1500, which I think is low. The $2000 figure listed above is what it would bring at most sales in this area.

Hi folks,
Thanks for the good ballpark range for me. So If Im understanding correctly for this luger in todays market a price of $1850 would be reasonable for both me and a potential buyer?

I would say yes providing upon teardown that the internal serial numbers all match as well. Jim

I have taken it down to parade rest as they say and everything that has a number is 44.
The only thing I can think of that has no numbers at all are the wooden grips
Is there a specific part you are concerned about? I can look again.
thanks

Just wanted to mention that the 42 code 41 date Lugers, as yours is, is a rather hard to find variation. The 42 code was used for the 1939 and 1940 (4 digit chamber date) until 1941 when Mauser began using a 2 digit chamber date. According to Jan Still, Mauser switched to the byf code in February 1941. Consequently, only about 7,000 Lugers were made in January with the 42-41 chamber/toggle markings. Most are found in the "n" and "o" serial range. As a point of comparison, approximately 135,700 were manufactured with the 42-1940 markings, and 126,000 of the byf-41 were made. All in all, this is a darned hard-to-find Luger. You might want to consider hanging onto this one, disbo100. As far as value goes, I really have no idea, but have always felt pretty comfortable with Jim's expertise.

The lack of dealers covering their table costs should be a signal to start lowering their prices IMHO..
It's a buyers market everywhere and selling should be the name of the game..

I'm always seem to guess too low on Luger prices, but there's an all matching including magazine 41 that been listed over and over on Gunbroker for $1,600.00 with no takers.
