Joe, sorry, no EK I 1914, but, a 1939 I can do, in this dedicated topic ... Like my EK I 1914, this 1 is in not very mint condition? But, I like it a lot, and its just supergorgeouslooking in its little box!

The cross itself, is heavy, when you hold it in yer hand. Its marked with " 26 " on the pin, which is for B. H. Mayer in Pforzheim. Some pieces of frosting left, bit of rust on the black iron heart, but, dont you hear this 1 whisper stories?

Enjoy,
Karin-Renate

If I recall correctly the cased 26 marked crosses were from a Russian hoard find. That's what many refer to the find as.

Hi Krullies

Yes, this one is purported to be a "Russian Hoarde" find cross...Most were maker marked but some were unmarked as well.

Thank you for the compliment!

@Fischer;
Amazing! How new that box is! It has a square button, like mine! Yours is SO much better condition tho, beautiful! Thanks much for sharing!

@Stan;
Great cross! Nice low makernumber, L/13 . Always cool to see if a book gives anything; Paul Meybauer (Berlin) is mentioned from july 1941 (and was licensed supplier since then) in the list of the Prasidialkanzlei.

Hey Walter!

That is a nice cross! It must tell many many stories to you, when you hold it in your hands! I love the traces of history it has, and the pin, got a few hits, like mine! Congrats on your new addition! Will you get it another box? Or will it keep this one?

Bye,
KR

There is no "glory" in war! You don't have to look for it, it will find you. Many a soldier had a story to tell, but soon no more. Nice awards and thanks for sharing them.

Hi Mikee,

Your pics are so gruesome as they are nice! Are these in Germany, or France? Maybe Belgium? The cross on the grey concrete, is not a 1939 is it? Thanks much for sharing these!

You're right. War is obviously no glorious for anyone involved. War IS part of what we are where we live how we do. Even today theres war, victims, suffering, grief, just for ideas, or someone that claims some higher cause. Medals and stuff .. the history, is something I like about these, not to glorify anything or whatever. To find ANY glory in life, which NEVER just comes to you, it takes HARD work, and positive attitude, not negative. And attitude is also action, getting involved, do. Sometimes, I guess, war cant be helped, if you must make a stand, you make a stand. Even if that makes you also the victim. But, long made short, no, no, youre so right, no glory in war, the price, for to make a point, or for to stand up for the right thing, many times, is way too high. But, maybe I miss your point?

Bye,
KR

Hi Karin-Renate, Good morning from Florida. I, like you hear and feel the sounds of history when I hold items that where part of military conflicks. Not to glorify war but to feel a connection to the people involved. The repo box is a good place to store the iron cross until I find a real one.
Greetings, Walter

Hi Karin-Renate,

Not directed at anyone or anything, just a statement, a sober reminder. Like you, I love to hold a part of history in my hands, but also to walk the hallowed grounds of cemetaries, battlefields and monuments of soldiers that have come before me. German, American, British, French or Dutch it matters not, the feeling is somewhat the same. Glad you liked my pictures, coming from you that's a real compliment. You and your pictures are a breath of fresh air on this forum and I truely enjoy your posts. Best.
