Hello Serge, that's an outstanding example of my favorite type! Nice scabbard paint and darkening to the chain links! Thanks for showing, Leipzig

From the pics, the scabbard is anodized and not painted. It also has the mid period scabbard plated fittings which is perfectly correct for this vintage type configuration. It is 100% original and in a fantastic condition, a real beauty that I wouldn't mind having in my collection. Congrats Serge.

Ok, all shown somewhere before. An older scan of my two early ones (type 2 chain, painted scabbard) with all nickle silver fittings and the septum death´s head.

And a Type 1 chain. Nickle silver crossguards (no group stamp; they sometimes do come with "Sa" "Wf" or so), anodized scabbard, iron scabbard fittings. Regards,

Serge, here you go! Bought in '04 for $3995! As long as we're guessing vintage and type, I'll keep mum, Pat, anyone? Regards, Leipzig

And for those of you who haven't spent your stimulus check or tax refund yet, you can own a very uncommon ided chained SS dagger that belonged to SS-Gruppenführer Walter Staudinger on Tom Wittman's website. His ided SS sword is thrown in and the price for the pair has been reduced to boot! They are No. 5 on his "Special Offerings" section: http://www.wwiidaggers.com/SPO.htmEnjoy! Staudinger has a pretty extensive SS Officer File. Here is his record of service assignments. Ross Kelbaugh www.ssdaggers.com

I only found two photos of Staudinger in his records. Neither are of him in his uniform. Enjoy! Ross Kelbaugh www.ssdaggers.com

Great daggers. A chance to dig my three pieces out of the safe. I have bought around 7 Chained SS daggers from my hotel buys, in fact i just bought one about three months ago. These are three that i have kept for myself. All have great no maker blades, anodized scabbards, handles are perfect with no chips. thanks Bob

What an amazing show! Thanks to all of the thread contributors. I'm one of the ones who has never even seen or touched one of these in person. They indeed hold an ominous and menacing aura. Cheers,(&keep'emcoming!) Pauli
