Here's a nice SA Dagger in the original box the G.I. sent home to the United States {Post marked May 31st 1945}

Ofcourse all sorta stuff was going everywhere, but, officially, was this allowed for shipping back home? Or is there paperwork with it too? Im asking, 'cause I have a Eisernes Kreuz, that was shipped back to the US, and it needed something called Capture Papers? Anyway, something like that there dagger in its box, cant be beaten Cherish it!

Whats really cool about it is that there is period newspaper as a lining on the bottom of the box. I believe the paper news paper liinig really tells the story because with out it,, the box is just a box,,,, Very cool ensemble N55,, just like looking into an old attic!! Best Larry

The box is lined with newspaper that is dated 1940 Berlin.
The Dagger did not come with capture paper documents, But the box is stamped U.S. Army examiner passed.
As to the scabbard it is brown {SA}
The makers mark is RZM M7/36 E&F Horster.
The senders name is Staff Segeant B.J. Gorbo Headquarters Battery, 15th Divisional Artillery.
And it took 14 cents of postage.

A 1940 Berlin newspaper, I think would be German? Ofcourse there were US papers distributed abroad too? Like the pink issue of Stars & Stripes, I believe. BUT, that would NOT be the 1940 issue Reckon the paper is german. And, even back in 1945, a nice find, this 5 year old beginning-of-war-era newspaper! Magical! All stuff got so scarce during the war! The paper would most likely be used for something ... but this 1? Was saved, and then another time by being used as lining! How cool is THAT eh?

The dagger, looking at it again, its RZM, so, does it have plated crossguards? Or heavy shiny steel ones? They look kinda fat + heavy? That must feel a nice solid dagger, in hand, I mean!
