Hello im a newbi 15 years old and here are my theory on this patch!! - Reproduction -misprint -foreign made and they messed up -its was foreign troops fighting in the division so they wore a different color patch -post ww2 or pre ww2 and they change the color -experimental patch for the division -unit patch
SEMPER FIDELIS!

Pretty good theories.
But IMO it is not a reproduction, you can tell by the back weave.
The "misprint" theory is certainly an option, they may have ran out of blue thread that day, or loaded the machine wrong. Interesting that it does have the light blue bobbin thread.
It is not foreign made.
The division was made up of "colored troops" but no foreigners.
An interesting variation, and collectors LOVE variations. I would contact Bill "Scotty" Scott and get his take on it. he sells as "rarepatchman" on ebay, and rare patches is what he does!
