Guys, I recently purchased a rather "salty" Waffen-SS camouflage helmet cover with many repairs. I realize asking when these repairs were made is nearly impossible but I would like to get the overall general opinion about this covers materials, construction, & originality. It is has been manufactured post 1945 it goes back!
Thanks in advance, Sepp

Alright, I'll hazard a stab at it. Although these things usually require a 'hands on inspection. The color and material look OK from what I can see. What does not look right is the wear. Especially the holes on the autumn side spring cover. Doesn't look natural and appears induced to me. What is the color of the anodized aluminum clip assemblies? I don't like the wear on these either. SS helmet covers are highly coveted and command top prices. You really need to trust your source. Over the years I have seen more bad ones than good ones. We need to see profile shots of the clips and of the visor stiching too. I'm sure we'll hear more.

Thanks for your reply!! The fall spring cover material is much different than the rest of the cover. I think on the spring side a set of foliage loops is made of this different material. The material is silky feeling, almost.
OK, the rocker clips have a blueish color to them. The spring side seems to be darker than the fall.

Hi Sepp, the bluish tint to to rockers is a good sign and it is also interesting that the spring cover material is different perhaps explaining the wearing through of the cloth. I see that there are some other positive comments regarding this cover elsewhere. Good luck with it.

Mike, Yes, I posted it on both the WAF as well as the GHW. it is getting rave reviews on both! Thanks for your comments and for posting on this! It would seem I have a "keeper"!
S. Vestae, does this mean you like it or you think it's a fake??
