Colleagues,
I just wanted to say thanks for all the help I received from the discussions here with my recent aquisition. I was finally able to pick up a sword to go along with my parade uniform shown in the first picture. Since this was my first edged weapon, the information here helped greatly in making my decision. I was approached about this suddenly and didn't want to make a hasty decision. Apparently, according to the family, this was taken from a prisoner housed somewhere near Berlin. Hopefully I will find the time soon to post some of my other pieces in the other forums to give back a bit. Thanks again for a great place to look and learn.

Looks like a brass hilted Wrangel example, personalized monogram and all. Good addition to the collection.

I'm glad the forum was of use to you. The online associations and reference galleries have proven invaluable for the collector. Watch the edged weapons....they're like rabbits. Somehow they mysteriously multiply
